  • Grayson Highlands

We’ve returned from our Labor Day (Weekend) trip to Virginia, and once again I’ve taken far more pictures of wildlife than my family. The “wild” ponies were exciting for the kids, and we loved our hike in Grayson Highlands. I did get plenty of cute shots of the boys, but I’ll save those for the family. The first day we hiked, it was foggy and chilly, but two days later it was hot and clear. The ponies had moved from…

  • North Topsail Island

Does anyone else travel to a destination and take more photos of the wildlife than their kids? Today we took a day trip to North Topsail and caught a few hours of play time before the rain came. I snapped a few cute ones of the boys, but they typically move too quickly or stick up a hand to block the photo (I don’t blame them for that). After we boogie boarded and body surfed, we walked down the shore…

  • Camping and Turning 3

It is the day after Wookie’s third birthday, and this morning while we lay in bed listening to the chatter from the boys’ room, Scooby firmly told him, “It’s not your birthday anymore, so you’re not in charge.” It’s tough being five and having your little brother rule the roost for an entire day. Actually, it was more like four days, as we went camping up on Lake Kerr in lieu of a formal birthday party. Equipped with a new…

  • First Family Camping Trip

It’s the trip I’ve been waiting on for four years – the one where we go camping with a kid. This past weekend, we went camping with not just one, but two under the age of five. I consider the trip a success because no one got burned, no one had to do or wipe a number two in the woods (other than a diaper change), and it didn’t rain. There were likely many other aspects to rejoice in, but…

  • Beach Pics for Friday

We are wrapping up our final day at the Outer Banks. I’m slap wore out from boogie boarding and carrying around a baby everywhere I go. It’s fun fun, and now I’m ready to get back home. I’ve loved all the colors and textures at the beach from the birds and weathered wood, to the native plants, to the fishing buoys hanging on the house next door.
