2014
While I’d love to get all reflective about 2013 and wax eloquent on the coming year, my brain just isn’t going there. Here goes the Engineer’s version of the first blog post of the year. Engineers like lists and bullet points.
Changes ahead this year:
- Adding a new class to my spring semester schedule
- Scaling back on the pottery hobby due to time constraints and other commitments
- The “baby” no longer naps
- Started a Facebook group for Raleigh growers to share gardening dialogue
- Moved the greenhouse to outside the garden fence to make better use of space in the garden and considering growing some plants for the entire season in the greenhouse
Goals:
- More face-to-face time with friends
- Eat more veggies from the garden (and develop a taste for them)
- Continue exercising at lease twice a week
- Turn off light bulbs in rooms not being used
- Test out new household budget and tweak until we find something that works for us
- Eat down the pantry and freezer and reduce food spoilage due to not knowing and using what we have
Happy New Year!

🙁 on cutting back on pottery. But I know the need; room has to be made somewhere. How do you like your little greenhouse? I have looked into getting one of those. We have such a cold spring that I have to buy a lot of plants.

The greenhouse is nice. I used it last year to put the tomatoes out earlier since they don't get enough sunlight in the dining room. I'm thinking of trying artichokes again and leaving them in the greenhouse. Last time I tried them, they died on me, and the season was too short. I'm sure pottery will grab my attention again later 😉
