Hilton Head Island 2019
Our next trip to HHI is coming up in less than a month, so it’s probably time I share the pics from 2019 in preparation for the upcoming one. I’m going to jump straight to the highlight of the trip, which was watching baby loggerhead turtles find their way to the ocean. (I’ve also seen that today, June 16, 2020, is World Sea Turtle Day.) Joe and I took a late night walk to the beach on the last evening…

The Giving Tree
As I pondered which book has been the most influential in my life, I browsed the shelves in my home and thought back to the classics I read in highschool and college. There are many authors that have challenged and shaped me such as Katherine Patterson, Annie Dillard, Ernest Hemingway, Milan Kundera, Anne Lamott, and Thornton Wilder, but as I reached back further into childhood, one book that stands out and I’ve always considered as my favorite is Shel Silverstien’s…

Joe had not yet seen the Milburnie Dam demolition, so we went out for a hike. I love being in the woods with Joe, because he always finds new things to explore. We went around the dam to the side I had not yet ventured…

Hatteras Island
We spent our first week of summer break on Hatteras Island. We aren’t very good at sitting around in beach chairs and relaxing, as you can see from the pics of our adventures. We obsessed over catching blue crabs in the canal at our rental house and the Haulover, chased the sunsets, paddled the sound, hiked a few trails, rode the ferry, climbed walls and walked the more remote beaches. It’s good to be home. Lighthouse Rd, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse…
