  • Gardener Questionnaire

    July 13, 2011 /

I thought it would be fun to create a little questionnaire for those of us in the world of garden blogging – a chance to brag and confess and get a more proper introduction to each other. If you participate, link your post back to me post your link in the comments section and I’ll be sure to RT these on Twitter as they come in! What color is your thumb? My thumb is transitioning from brown to green and…

  • Itsy Bitsy & Our Garden Friends

    July 13, 2011 /

After last week’s downpour, I was a little heartbroken for the Man-child that his friend Itsy Bitsy had vanished. The only evidence of her existence was her shredded, abandoned web. Several days later, I was outside the fence and spied a new writing spider, and we determined that she was Itsty Bitsy’s younger cousin, Little Bitsy. Litty Bitsy This evening (garden walk!) I was picking at the tomato vines and nearly jumped to see Itsy Bitsy had returned and was…

  • Our Garden Walks

    July 12, 2011 /

Dahlia that I found on clearance at Lowes While I’m not much of a routine person, our mornings nearly are always the same. The boys wake up right around the time my husband hops in the shower, they play on the bed or in the bathroom until he is dressed, and then we all go downstairs where they get chocolate milk and begin systematically destroying the first floor of the house with their toys and breakfast. Around 8am, we bust…

  • Onion Harvest

    July 11, 2011 /

Yesterday I noticed that some of the onion stalks were falling over and many were turning soft, so I harvested them. I left the firm ones in the garden to give them a little more time to grow. I always expect gargantuan onions but get little tiny ones. This year I fertilized them better, and the bulbs look more defined than they have in previous harvests. I’m not sure how to get larger growth, so if you have any tips,…

  • Upcycled Sink to Garden Water Bowl

    July 3, 2011 /

Every time go to garden stores, I can’t help but stop by the water plants and wish I had a place to plant some. Water features are almost always my favorite spots in gardens, and for awhile now the Man and I have been thinking about putting in a fountain. Well, we still haven’t installed a fountain, but we do have a water bowl! Thanks to a trip to the Habitat ReUse Store, we acquired a free sink, sans plug.…
