Family Trip Out West Summer 2018
Be forewarned, I spent a week in the Tetons and Yellowstone national parks with my family, and there are several posts about this trip to come! There are over a thousand photos to sort through, so I will do it one location and adventure at a time, which will help me relive the trip and remember some of the names of the spots we photographed. There is no way I will be able to recall the name over every mud pot or hot spring, but I plan on linking up some of the National Park Service pages so that maps and information are close at hand. We booked our lodging…

Cynicism
I’ve felt a shift in my soul recently, and I’d be remiss to not recognize a similar shift in my closest friends’ hearts as well. I feel tenderness where there were once walls. I sense vulnerability and a willingness to be cared for where there was once a posture of self-sufficiency. It is possible that this is simply the outcome of the passage of time or age. However, I don’t believe that is the case as some people will bare spiritual arms to the grave. Maturity doesn’t just befall people as do the lines on their face or the gray hairs on their head. Beautiful Floaty Me
Wookie and I finished reading the scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban where Harry is trying to think of happy memories. “My happiest moment was today at the awards ceremony when I looked up and saw you and we hugged and kissed. You looked beautiful. I thought you were so beautiful. What were you wearing again?” “A gray sweater, gray pants and a purple scarf.” “You were beautiful, mom. (Pauses and ponders) And you had that skin right there (points to hip) and it looked like you were wearing a floaty.” “What!? You aren’t supposed to say that!” “But it did! It looked like a floaty. Right…

The Enneagram is ruining my life
I have to take a break in my final project and exam grading schedule to let you know what is absolutely ruining my life at the moment. First of all, it feels like winter, and I’m 100% ready for summer, which means I probably should pick up some vitamin D supplements today on the grocery run. Second, I was sick for a whole week with a fever and cough that turned into a snot-fest-ear-infection and led to 10 days of antibiotics. I felt very sorry for myself, and honestly, I still feel a little sorry for myself about it. Scoops was out of school for four days with his own…

Milburnie Dam Demolition Part 2
Saturday morning, we opted to skip the Christmas parade, and Joe and the kids played video games instead. By 10:30 am, I was chomping at the bit to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. Joe had not yet seen the Milburnie Dam demolition, so we went out for a hike. I love being in the woods with Joe, because he always finds new things to explore. We went around the dam to the side I had not yet ventured to and came on a cypress grove full of cypress knees, frogs and lizards. Don’t let the pictures fool you — Joe and I enjoyed the nature hike far more…
