• Holding Pattern

In my immediate circle of friends there is a lot going on – joyful, devastating and just plain difficult. And none of it is my story to tell. For once, our life seems fairly stable in a holding pattern of sorts. I dread the potential fallout from even typing such a thing. For someone who believes in Jesus and trusts her life to Him, I fear tempting fate a little too much. For instance, I don’t want to have another…

  • Attainable Goals for 2012

For 2012, I’m avoiding mapping out identity shaping goals, goals that I have no way of measuring, and goals that imply my previous person has been inadequate. I just wanted a short list of things I’d like to get done. If I added something like “be more intentional with the boys,” that would just put me on a path of endless self-critique and comparisons to other moms and ultimately feelings of inadequacy. So I’m keeping it sweet and simple. The…

  • Merry Christmas!

We bypassed sending out a Christmas card this year, but you can bet your sweet pants I’ll be printing up this baby for the keepsakes! We managed to get a decent family picture in only two tries. The secret? I stuffed the boys’ mouths with jellybeans (see the fat cheeks and smirks?). Merry Christmas, friends! I hope you day tomorrow is blessed with the presence of Emanuel, God with us!

    dedicated to my love

Don’t You Give Up On Me by Milo Greene

I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go wherever you go and I will never leave without letting you know don’t you give up on me don’t you give up on me we’re told, we’re told, we’re told we’ll never get old so don’t you ever show them, show them our bones we’ll dig, we’ll dig, we’ll dig our own little hole, then put our walls around it…

  • Holiday Processing

Does anyone one else find it unsettling that a day in which we celebrate community, shared sacrifice (perhaps the singular sacrifice of Native Americans), and express gratitude is followed by a day that is the pinnacle of American greed? I turned on the radio in the car today and was greeted by Christmas music. I can’t deny that just hearing all the jingles and familiar jolly voices made me itch to go shopping a la the scenes in Serendipity where…

  • A Barefoot Morning

I never get tired of spending time outside with the boys, especially with fall weather this glorious. First, we ran an errand downtown, and then It was so warm this morning that I let the baby outside without his pants, and I went barefoot. I’m short on words and energy, but my phone is teeming with pictures to share!
